I inherited my talent and passion for cooking from my mother who was considered a genius in creating and pairing foods with the best complementary flavors to the palate. The amazing part of my mom’s cooking was that she insisted on cooking healthy by using fresh ingredients and limiting use of oil and butter in her curries.
I grew up in a city called Lucknow in India which is renowned worldwide for its regional cuisine and discriminating taste. While growing up I helped mom in the kitchen who had a large family to feed, and learned to create dishes that my friends and family would look forward to.
When my three offspring left for college, they craved for my cooking and, found it daunting to cook the elaborate Indian dishes on their own.
There were many spices to deal with and took so much time just to shop. They gambled on packaged spices which were often stale, could only be used for one type of dish, and did not have the optimal proportions. They tried jar paste and sauces, which made all dishes taste the same.
To help, I created a simple and easy method which would emulate the taste of my dishes; and iSpiceKits was born! Through testing, I learned that many of my friends (who have never cooked Indian food before), were able to make tasty gourmet Indian meals, making them happy and proud. Thanks to the feedback, I too have simplified my life by using iSpiceKits.
When I’m not cooking or auditing, I participate with my family in a variety of activities including biking, downhill skiing, running races including marathons, swimming, working out in the gym, growing organic vegetables at home, food and wine tasting.
